Sabine County residents recently gathered for a valuable and timely community event focused on scam awareness, hosted by BOM Bank. With coffee and kolaches in hand, attendees filled the room to learn how to better protect themselves and their finances from increasingly common scams.

SABINE COUNTY - The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers investigated a one-vehicle fatality crash on state Highway 87, north of Hemphill, that occurred Sunday, March 29, 2026. The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 4:20 p.m., a 2012 Honda CBR 1000 motorcycle was traveling north on S.H.

A Hemphill man is in custody following an early morning shooting incident Monday that prompted a heavy law enforcement response across the city. According to the Sabine County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 3:00 a.m.

Bronson, Texas – Smiles, sunshine, and a shoreline full of young anglers made for a memorable day at the Sabine County Kids Fishing Rodeo, held March 21 at Latham Farm in Bronson. With more than 140 rod and reel combos given away to local youth, the event proved to be more than just a fishing derby—it was a fullscale community effort aimed at getting kids outdoors and making memories.

For decades, Janice Gilley has been a familiar and dedicated presence in the Pineland community, quietly shaping local traditions and civic life through her commitment to service and leadership. A lifelong resident of Pineland, Gilley was born and raised in the close-knit town and graduated with the West Sabine High School Class of 1972.

Saturday, The Refuge Church of Milam hosted a Women’s Tea complete with prayer boards, lunch, worship and speaker Jana Wise Pate. More than 60 women were in attendance and a beautiful time was had by all.
