Residents and visitors alike are invited to attend a special sign dedication ceremony celebrating Hemphill’s designation as the “Bass Fishing Capital of Texas.” The event is scheduled for Thursday, March 12, at 10:00 a.m. at the Highway 83 and Highway 87 intersection, on the opposite corner of the NASA Memorial. The ceremony is being organized by the Sabine County Chamber of Commerce and will mark the unveiling of a new sign recognizing Hemphill’s long-standing reputation as a premier destination for bass fishing. State Representative Joanne Shofner will attend the event as a special guest and is expected to participate in the ceremony recognizing the community’s fishing heritage and the important role outdoor recreation plays in the local economy. Hemphill and the surrounding Sabine County area are well known among anglers for their proximity to Toledo Bend Reservoir, one of the nation’s top bass fishing lakes. The new designation highlights the region’s popularity with fishermen from across Texas and beyond, further promoting tourism and outdoor recreation in the area. Community members, local officials, and fishing enthusiasts are encouraged to attend the ceremony and celebrate this recognition of Hemphill’s fishing legacy. The event will take place at the Highway 83/87 intersection, directly across from the NASA Memorial, beginning at 10 a.m. on March 12.
