The Sabine County Reporter has been authorized to announce the candidacies of the below named persons for the offices named subject to action in the March 3, 2026 Primary elections. The announcement fee (which must be paid in advance) includes a statement and photograph to run one time. Fees are $200. The name on the calendar runs each week until the election.

Republican Forum Sabine County Texas Republicans will host a Candidate Forum on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at the Feedstore in Hemphill Pecans, Pecans, Pecans Hemphill Garden Club has begun their Annual Pecan Sales of delicious, pecan halves, sold by the pound for $15.

(Hemphill, Texas) During the early evening hours of December 29, 2025, Sabine County Sheriff’s Deputies observed a vehicle operating in the area of Cedar Grove Road and Texas Highway 21. The vehicle was a creamcolored Lincoln and the Deputies noted there was an equipment violation. They attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver continued without stopping, north on Cedar Grove Road.

After twelve years at the helm of Sabine County, Judge Daryl Melton is ready to step down. But as he prepares to hang up his many hats, he isn’t looking for a 'fancy' send-off. He instead, looks back with gratitude to God for his time in office. In a recent sit-down interview, Judge Melton reflected on a career defined not by political ambition, but by a series of answered prayers and a deepseated commitment to the people of East Texas.
