Another Successful Weatherspoon Classic In The Books

Body
For basketball teams looking to find some early season competition, the annual Teresa Weatherspoon Classic, hosted by the West Sabine Tigers, provides just the answer. With teams from as far away as Anahuac (140 miles), from 3A schools like Hemphhill and Woodville, to 1A powerhouse Brookeland (#24 State ranked), they come to test their skill levels against teams they may never see again. Unless, of course, they come back next year.

Lady Hornets lead the game...

Body
In a game riddled with more fouls than points Tuesday evening, #23 Strother of the Hemphill Lady Hornets shoots and adds to her game total of 14 points. The Lady Hornets took the lead from the git go and never looked back, commanding the court on both sides of the ball, ending the 1st period 18 – 8, 2nd period 31 – 24, 3rd period 43 – 34, and 53 – 43 at the final buzzer. The Shelbyville Lady Dragons were no slouches and even closed the gap to within a hand full of points midway through the 4th period, but finding a scoring rhythm from either team was proving difficult with the constant blaring of the referees whistle. Other Lady Hornets helping out with the scoring were B, Williams with 12 pts., Parks with 9 pts., Welch and Gay with 7 pts. each, and Price and Corley with 2 pts. each. Congratulations Lady Hornets!
