Hemphill on the diamond despite a wet week

The Lady Hornets experienced a tremendous comeback Tuesday night, but would ultimately fall short in extra innings. Hosting the Lady Eagles of Woodville, Amelia Gay pitched the entire nine innings for Hemphill and the Hornets were facing a 4run deficit in the bottom of the 7th inning. Gay and Corley both drove in runs and were followed by a two rbi double by Laken Wilkerson to tie the game, sending it into extra innings. The Lady Hornets would eventually fall to Woodville, 6-5 in extra innings. Amelia gave up 3 earned runs on 8 hits, with 6 strikeouts.

Congratulations to the Hemphill High School Little Green Band. They traveled to Longview Wednesday for UIL Stage and Sightreading Contest and brought back a huge sweepstakes trophy, continuing a tradition of excellence within the program. The Hornet Band is under the direction of Christian Jesmore.

Hemphill Bass Club...

The final tournament of the year was the best one yet! All of the Hornet teams brought in fish and most with limits. Sam Rayburn was good to them! Taking 1st place and Big Bass went to Senior Alyssa Corley and Brenna Corley! Their total weight for 5 fish was12.98 with a big bass of 4.53! Way to go girls!
