Body Powerlifing in Pineland has been super successful this season. Last week both the varsity boys and girls won the meet hosted by West Sabine. The boys have won every meet and the girls have won the last 3. Thank you to all the workers who helped host the meet.

Body The West Sabine Lady Tigers made the trek northward to Tenaha to take on the Timpson Lady Bears in the bi-district round of the playoffs. Timpson got ahead early 16-3 only to see the ladies narrow the gap to 1612.

Body The Pineland Service Club held it’s regular monthly meeting on Thursday evening, February 9th, and after the opening prayer and meal, approved the minutes and treasurers report. Old business discussion centered around the Career Center building.

Body Super Bowl LVII was this weekend and, for the first time in history, both starting quarterbacks are from the great state of Texas. Whichever team you support, it will be a win for the Lone Star State!

Body My wife, Clara, has been playing the piano and organ for many years. She is quite good at it as she has been invited to play music for numerous weddings and funerals over the years. However, there is a side to playing the keyboard that is quite dangerous.

Body Dish washing is a chore; that I find satisfying. I get a job done and a chance to gaze out the window, without wasting time. I have a dishwasher; but would rather do them, by hand. I enjoy watching the squirrels and birds, eat at the feeders.

Body Both Tiger squads saw action before the Christmas break this past week as the Tigers hosted the Groveton Indians while the Lady Tigers opened up district play with Corrigan Camden.

Body Newton kept it close for the 1st quarter, then the Hornets quick hands defense began to assert itself, opening up a 14 point lead by halftime before cruising to a 76-54 win in their District play opener.
