What an exciting afternoon in Carthage, Tcxas. Hemphill’s Luke Moody, who opened up HISD’s Veteran’s program with his fiddle on Tuesday, shared the stage at the Carthage Civic Center with the Malpass Brothers. Moody opened for them and joined them later for some Country Music Magic! Up next, Luke is headed to Pasadena to the Hometown Opry on Nov. 21. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10351 was again able to assist HHS Jr. class to visit the Holocaust museum with a donation of $2000. We feel this is an opportunity for these students to learn and visualize the horror of this time in American History. Their country was there to bring an end to these horrible atrocities.

Milam Settler’s Day is right around the corner-Celebrating 33 Years of family, festival and fun

The 33rd Annual Milam Settlers Weekend Festival, anticipated to be the largest yet, will take place in Milam, Texas, on November 21 and 22 at El Camino Park. This popular two-day event offers free admission and features fun and activities for the whole family. The festivities kick off early on Friday morning, allowing eager shoppers a head start on holiday shopping. The Official Opening Ceremony begins promptly at 9:00 AM on Saturday, and will include a welcome from Judge Daryl Melton, the raising of the American flag by local veterans, and an anticipated announcement from Texas State Representative HD 11, Joanne Shofner.
