Operation Crystal Ball snags two more arrests in Sabine

On December 3, 2025, Sabine County Sheriff’s Office apprehended two more subjects involved in Operation Crystal Ball. Both were charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG 1 (Methamphetamines). Deputies will continue apprehending those involved in the sale, distribution, or possession of Illicit narcotics, as this operation completes the final stages.

ESP Volunteers Spend the Day Shopping for Local Families

The Sabine County Empty Stocking Program was hard at work last week as volunteers spent a day shopping for children and families in need. Carts were filled, lists were checked, and spirits were high as the group moved through Wal-Mart in Center selecting toys, clothing, and essentials for this year’s annual distribution.

Sabine County Honored with Alamo Letter Society Plaque

Sabine County has received a special honor from the Alamo Letter Society — a bronze plaque that will soon be placed on the Courthouse Square in Hemphill. The plaque commemorates the Hemphill Middle Schools participation in the Society’s “Victory or Death” Letter Writing Contest, inspired by William B. Travis’s famous “Victory or Death” letter written during the 1836 Battle of the Alamo.

Wyatt Heslip wins District with Voice of Democracy advances to next level to face 23 other winners

Wyatt Heslip won 1st place in the Texas VFW District 19 Voice of Democracy competition. There are eleven posts in VFW District 19. After winning locally for Sabine County and now winning District 19, Wyatt's VOD essay is next forwarded to compete against 23 other Texas VFW District VOD winners, with the top 10 Texas VOD District winners (and their families) invited to Corpus Christi, Texas January 16-18, 2026.
