Havard to direct children’s production of Aladdin-HLT

Children are excited for this Tuesday June 13th for the upcoming auditions for 'Aladdin' at 5:30pm. Under the direction of Makenzie Havard (assisted by Leanne Hinkle) , 'Aladdin' will come alive on the Hemphill Little Theatre stage. as our director brings to life the funnysentimentalinspirational story of a poor “street rat” who comes into possession of a magic lamp and a magic carpet, summons a big blue genie, and embarks on a scheme to win the heart of a princess and stop an evil vizier from stealing the kingdom away from the heroine’s dad.

Kevin Creel of Lake Charles, LA. Wins the 39th Annual Bob Sealy Big Bass Splash on Sam Rayburn with the largest bass of the 3 day tournament with a 9.67 lb. largemouth bass. The $125,000 Grand Prize package consisted of a Phoenix 21PHX powered by Mercury, equipped with inn Kota, Hummingbird, Navionics and Power Pole, a new RAM Truck, plus $10,000 cash. Congratulations Kevin Creel! Second place went to Jackson Culpepper of Houston, Tx. With a 9.41 lb. bass winning $20,000 cash, third place went to Martin Painter of Yantis, Tx. with a 9.25 lb. bass winning $15,000 cash, fourth place went to Billy Cloud of Brookeland, Tx. with a 9.10 lb. bass winning $10,000 cash, and fifth place went to Hayden Heck of Lufkin, Tx. With a 8.91 lb. bass winning $5,000 cash. Congratulations to all the top five winners!

SRA sinks fish habitats in Toledo bend...

The Sabine River Authority (SRA) has announced that they have successfully submerged all 100 of the artificial fish habitats, that were recently built by many local volunteers, into several strategic locations in Toledo Bend. The habitats serve as a protective hiding place for all sorts of smaller fish. And, as all anglers know, where the little fish go, the big fish will follow! So for all of you who have been asking about where to find the structures, here are the locations, complete with GPS data. Red Hill Lake opens...

Red Hill Lake, a small picturesque 19 acre lake just 2.5 miles north of Milam off Hwy. 87 has opened for the season starting on May 1st. Built in 1940, Red Hill Lake offers tent and RV camping, fishing and swimming, and includes picnic tables, toilets, and drinking water. For more information, call 409-625-1940
