Let them be Little

Body
My main objective in my classroom is to instill social skills my students need to become a viable part of our universe. Pendleton Park Ramp

Body
SRA closed the boat ramp at Pendleton Park last week so construction could begin on the new boat ramp and parking area. SRA is presently building a jetty with their own employees and equipment, and already have it about 200 ft out from the bank, with more to go. The downstream (protected side) of the jetty will be sloped and seeded with grass so boaters may pull up to bank when loading or unloading their boats. The upstream side of the jetty will be lined with huge rocks (presently stockpiled at a lot on the west side of the new Dollar General just up the road) that will serve to protect the new jetty from erosion from rough water action.

Hemphill VFW to show support for families of servicemen and women now serving

Body
Shortly after World War I the Gold Star Mothers Club was formed in the United States to provide support for mothers that lost sons or daughters in the war. The name came from the custom of families of servicemen hanging a banner called a Service Flag in the window of their homes. The Service Flag had a star for each family member in the military. Living servicemen were represented by a blue star, and those who had lost their lives were represented by a gold star. On the last Sunday of September, Gold Star Mother’s Day is observed in the U.S. in their honor.
