VFW donations to local FD's

VFW Post 10351 Commander Curtis Buckner and crew were on hand at the Hemphill VFD meeting room to give $1000 check donations to all of the local VFD's including Shamrock Shores, Pineland, Six Mile, Fairmount, Hemphill, Pendleton Harbor, Bronson and Rosevine. These proceeds are made available through the monies made from the VFW Bingo nights.

On Tuesday, March 19th, the Hemphill City Council held their monthly meeting, and after the opening prayer and pledge to the flags, approved the consent agenda which included: the previous meetings minutes, the accounts payable check register for February 2024, the gas power cost adjustment of $0.153 per ccf for March 2024, and the electric power cost adjustment of $0.02420 per kwh for March 2024.

The Sabine County Beekeepers will meet for our monthly meeting on Monday April 1st at 6:30pm. We meet every 1st Monday of the month at 6:30PM at the Sabine County Extension Agents office in Hemphill, located in the Brookshire Brothers parking lot next to Family Dollar. We welcome the public to come out and join us. We have no dues, or officers. This is for anyone interested in becoming a new beekeeper or an already experienced beekeeper. Last week more than twenty book club members came together to discuss The Only one Lefta mystery/thriller by Riley Crager. It’s never to late to pick up a good book. The April read is The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah and the club will meet April 9 at 6 p.m.

Awareness Breakfast to Promote Believing Survivors of Sexual Assault

The Family Crisis Center of East Texas is extending an invitation to the community to attend a Come and Go Breakfast at the San Augustine outreach office on Wednesday, March 27, from 8 am to 10 am. This event marks the beginning of the agency’s Sexual Assault Awareness Campaign, themed 'Start by Believing,' as it gets a jump start on raising awareness for Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April.
