Looking Beyond Death The Bible encourages us to look beyond death. “For we know that if the earthly tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For indeed in this house we groan, longing to be clothed with our dwelling from heaven, inasmuch as we, having put it on, will not be found naked. For indeed while we are in this tent, we groan, being burdened because we do not want to be unclothed but to be clothed, so that what is mortal will be swallowed up by life” (2 Cor. 5:1-4).

The Christmas Star

Body
The lady on the radio said that it would appear about thirty minutes after sundown. She was very enthused about it. I wanted to see this phenomenon, myself. I walked down the doorsteps and out onto the sidewalk. But, there was no star anywhere. That is except the evening star. It must be too early, for this special one. So, I went back to my chore and finished it. By now, it should have made an appearance. So, this time, I walked out further into the yard. I was looking in the right place. Unfortunately, a dark cloud obscured anything over there. So, I gave up on seeing it. I guess I’ll have to see this grand sight second hand. Or in the pictures, that I knew would be posted, on Face Book.

NO REJOICING BEFORE BAPTISM The moment that we realize that our past sins have been forgiven and that we are now a child of God, it is a joyous moment. When we respond in faith and obedience to the terms of salvation that our Heavenly Father has commanded through His Son and our Savior Jesus Christ; that of belief, repentance, and baptism, it is a good reason to rejoice.

Giving thanks for Hidden Treasures

Body
For several mornings, I have been spending time on my front porch. I have had a bout with my allergies and so haven’t felt like doing a lot of chores. Normally, I am very conscious of the value of time. Therefore, each day, I feel like I have to accomplish a few things. Now, I am learning the value of recharging. My phone has to be recharged regularly. Now, I realize and have to admit, my body does, too.

Clara’s Culinary Calamities

Body
When we were married in 1958 Clara knew nothing about cooking. Since I knew a lot about eating she made it her mission to learn all about preparing food fit for a king. I knew she must have thought of me as a king because she was always presenting me with burnt offerings. My, how things have changed over the years. I no longer receive burnt offerings from her as she has become a great cook.

Thanksgiving: An Attitude of Gratitude

Body
Thanksgiving is much more than a big meal with family and friends. It's a time to reflect on, and be thankful for, all of the good things you have. It's important to be grateful, not just on Thanksgiving, but each and every day. Rather than lamenting what you feel is lacking in your life, begin each new day by developing an attitude of gratitude. Take inventory of your blessings and you will be surprised at just how much you have to be thankful for.
