Francis 'Linda' James followed her soulmate and beloved husband, Kurt Butler, to be in the arms of our Savior February 3, 2023. There she met her mother Arletha 'Arlie' Cooper, father Jesse Howard James, brother Cole Harold, and 3 sisters, Bennie 'Neni' Adkins, Betty Lou Foster and Dorothy Juan Hart. What a reunion! She is survived by her three daughters, Linda (Terry) McCue, Toni (Matt) Wolff, and Angel James Butler; 8 grandchildren who know her as mamalynn: Joshua, Wesley, Rachel Lynn, Le'Chelle, Erica, Brooke, Elijah, and Wyatt; as well as many great grandchildren.

Kurt Duane Butler, 66, born and raised in Fort Worth, departed to his heavenly home on Oct. 26, 2022.There he joined his mother Marceline Lewis, brother Stanley Joe Butler, and father Joe Butler. His wife, Francis Linda James, soon followed his lead.

Vera Joyce Matlock Jones, 86, of San Augustine, Texas, departed this physical life on July 08, 2023, at CHI St. Luke Health Memorial in San Augustine.

She was born on Feb. 6, 1937. She was survived by son; Maverick Roberts and Sheila of San Augustine, daughter; Vera McKenzie of Decature, GA, nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two greatgreat-grandchildren; sister Rosie Lee Matlock of Cypress, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Services were held July 15 at True Vine Baptist Church with Pastor S.J. Clark officiating.

Charles Edwin Johnson, Sr., 67, of San Augustine, passed away July 3, 2023 at his residence. He was born March 1, 1956 in Lockney, TX to Lyndall Edwin Johnson and Wanda Eloyse Moon Johnson. He was a lifetime resident of San Augustine and had worked as a lineman for the City Electrical Department and was also a heavy equipment operator. He was a Christian man who was a loving husband, father, PawPaw and Pupsipup. He was a good man that enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, spending as much time as possible on Lake Sam Rayburn.
