Tara Kate Huffman, 49, of Hemphill, passed away Monday, January 8, 2024 at her residence. Tara was born November 24, 1974 to Thomas Jones and Ruthie Murphy Jones. She was a lifelong resident of Sabine County and a graduate of Hemphill High School. She had worked for the Sabine County Clerk's Office for many years and was a member of Strickland Crossing Church of God. She enjoyed traveling every year to attend the Women of Joy Conferences with her church and she loved her family and grandbabies, as well as her nieces and nephews, spending as much time with them as she could. She enjoyed hosting reunions for her friends and family over the years and she loved to go to the beach.

Tara is survived by her husband, Ricky Huffman of Hemphill; son, John Raymond Huffman and wife, Meagan, of Hemphill; sister, Tina Jones of Hemphill; grandchildren, Joseph, Nataliee, Kynsy and Elidia; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Ruthie Jones; aunt, Sue Nell Hogan; nephew, Joseph Hogan; and cousin, Billy Michael Hogan.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 11, 2024 in Starr Funeral Home Chapel, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill.

Funeral services will follow visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Charles Moody officiating.

Burial will follow services in Hemphill Cemetery with Red Brown, Bradley Brown, Bryan Smith, Sarah Moore, Anthony Ridley, Steve Johnson, Matthew Hogan and Randy Hogan serving as pallbearers.

Instead of flowers, it is the family's request that donations be made toward services at Starr Funeral Home.
