Sister Dainer B. Edwards received her call from the Lord to depart this earthly life very early Wednesday morning, March 8, 2023, at the Legacies Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hemphill, Texas. At this time, her family would like to present this eulogy for memorial publishing. A beautiful daughter was born to Jasper and Julia Barrett on October 28, 1924, in Milam, Texas. She was the youngest of her siblings and was affectionately called 'Boot' by them. Her parents preceded her in death as well as her siblings, Marion, Rebecca, Jane, Faydell, and Tiny. Dainer's education began at Kyle Community School with Mrs. Bolton; her sister, Jane, and others also served as her teachers. In order to receive her high school diploma, she had to relocate to Tyler, Texas, and attended Emmett J. Scott High School. While there, she lived with Mrs. Warren and her family. Upon graduation from Emmett Scott, Dainer enrolled in Texas College and graduated in 1947 with a bachelor's degree in Home Economics. While attending college, she worked for the Blackstone Hotel and prepared salads. Dainer was a charter member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Gamma Epsilon Chapter.
