Body Fundraiser Pineland Fire Department Highway Hold Up and Sausage Wrap sale Saturday May 28 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Body The regular meeting of the HISD School Board opened Thursday evening, May 19th, with the invocation, pledge to the flag, and reading of the Mission statement, and much anticipation of selection of a new HISD Superintendent, but that selection did not happen during this meeting.

Body Board members Tracee Collins, Sharon Byley and Zach Hall were all sworn in at the WSISD board meeting May 16. All three ran unopposed in the recent May election.

Body Due to scheduling conflicts, the monthly meeting of the Pineland City Council was moved to May 19. Their agenda was light.

Body Over $992,000 in scholarships were awarded to graduating Hornets Tuesday evening with 19 organizations on hand to personally reward the 32 students for their years of study.

Body Sabine County Commissioners Court held it regular meeting on Monday, May 23. After opening the meeting with a prayer and pledge of allegiance, minutes of the last regular and special meetings were accepted.

Body City Hall held a special meeting on Tuesday, May 10, as a budget workshop to discuss July 1, – June 30, 2023, preliminary budget. There were a few absent council members, but enough were present to constitute a forum, so the meeting continued.
