Aging Gracefully... or maybe not

Body
I adored my mother as a little girl. I remember waking up to the swishing sounds of the washing machine, so comforting, like all is well with the world. And, I would think to myself that one day I would just hop up and cook breakfast and wash clothes and vacuum... just automatically. As if magically, one turns into an adult and happily rises and cares for her family. And yet, to this day, I would rather just wake up to the sounds of my mother completing her morning tasks.

Come on boys- fight, fight, fight!

Body
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith….” 2 Timothy 4:7 In the fall of 1949, Daddy moved our family of eight children to Shelbyville, Texas. I was a senior in High School and joined the Shelbyville Dragons Football team (I’m #18). It was my first year to play, I weighed 140 pounds and was among a group of tough country boys with four years playing football. There were no cityslickers on our team. They came from East Hamilton, Patroon, Possum Trot, Goober Hill, Huxley and the Sardis Community.

My Auntie Jo gave me a beautiful pair of gloves yesterday. They are elegant, with embroidery on the top, and I immediately did what I usually do—I put them away for safekeeping.
