Body The Brookeland Wildcats, fresh off their deep basketball playoff run, tipped off their baseball season March 7 against the Arp Tigers. Brookeland would run into a tough customer in Cade Clibom, who would shut out the Cats 5-0, fanning seven in five innings work.

Body The Hemphill Hornets took on the Groveton Indians March 7 and jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning as Braeden Jordan and Elijah McFarland scored on an Anthony White single.

Body Both Tiger squads would welcome Burkeville to open district play this past week. It was ladies first as the Lady Tigers put the pedal to the metal early against the Lady Mustangs, using a 16 run first inning to ease to a 21-0 victory in three innings.

Body The 3rd Annual Brandon Belt Grand Slam Bass tournament (a 3 day fishing event) was held on Sam Rayburn this last weekend and ended with the Top 4 teams all finishing within 1 pound of each other!

Body What a season for these teams! After an undefeated regular season the Wildcats battled beautifully through the playoffs, advancing for the first time in 24 years to Regional finals this weekend.

Body The Fishers of Men Texas East Stop #2 was on Toledo Bend Saturday and some big bags were brought to weigh-in. Winner of the tournament was Cody Pitt with 5 fish weighing 34.98 lbs.

Body The HISD School Board met on Thursday, February 15 th, and after opening prayer and pledge to the flag, approved the consent agenda consisting of the minutes from previous meetings and the financial/investment reports for January, 2024.
