2023 Pinecone Bowl Doesn’t Disappoint

If you have a pulse here in Sabine County you know that the annual contest known as the PineCone Bowl is much more than just a game, it is one of two major social events in this county, with the other being RGB in a few weeks. One where good old fashioned bragging rights are established for the year. One where you could be playing against your cousins one minute then eating dinner with them after the game.

Curtis and Phylis Buckner of VFW Post 10351 present a beautiful wall hanging American flag birthday present to Airman Otis Rhodes during his 65th birthday party at Hemphill Care Center on August 24th. Several other members of the VFW Post 10351 and residents of HCC were on hand to help celebrate Airman Rhodes’s birthday party and to enjoy his “favorite” German Chocolate cake with cold milk and juice. The VFW’s goal is to provide birthday parties for as many veterans as possible who are residents in the local area nursing and care centers. Happy Birthday Airman Rhodes!

RED Grant Open House held at Sabine County Courthouse

County Judge Daryl Melton introduces Joe Beeler of GrantWorks during the Rural Economic Development (RED) Plan Open House held at the Courthouse 3rd floor meeting room on Tuesday, August 22nd from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Sabine County wanted a better understanding of how it’s residents felt and thought about economic development and growth, and approximately 30+ interested residents showed up to learn what the Rural Economic Development Grant was all about and to share ideas and thoughts.
