River Authority to host Neches River Rendezvous Event 2024

The Angelina & Neches River Authority will host the 24th Annual Neches River Rendezvous, a fun and family-friendly 10-mile paddling adventure down the Neches River, on May 18, 2024. The Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce first held the Rendezvous in 1997, and it quickly became a popular annual event, with up to 300 people participating, however, due to Covid-19, weather conditions, and supply chain issues, the event has not been held the past five years.

Fall in Love With Your Park: Photo Contest Winner Chosen

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department wrapped up the summer portion of the Texas State Parks Centennial Photo Contest, choosing a winner from more than 740 entries. The winning photo for the “Keepin’ it Cool at Texas State Parks” summer theme was taken by Heather Averill and features an otherworldly underwater view of Balmorhea State Park’s spring-fed pool.

Tigers Tussle with Sandies

The West Sabine Tigers returned to the friendly confines of the Tigers Den in Pineland September 29 to battle Grapeland with both squads seeking their first district win. The Tigers would take an 8-6 lead after the first and would hold the lead at the half at 24-22, with the key play being a 12 yard fumble return for a score by Kevin Freeman.
