The Sabine County Commissioners Court held its regular meeting on July 10, and after opening prayer led by Brother Troy, and the pledge to the flag, accepted the minutes from the last meeting. There were no lineitem transfers or budget amendments to consider; The Court voted to stay with the same SRF (Secure Rural Funding) program that it has had with the Forest Service for the Fiscal Year 2023 Forest Service payment. That payment is expected to be approximately $337k, being split equally between the County and School system. There was another option put forth by the Forest Service but was not favored at all.

Brookeland ISD Rodeo Team announces the advancement of an athlete to the National level. Harley Odom will be representing Brookeland ISD, and Texas, at the National High School Rodeo in Gillette WY. Harley competed in the Light Rifle Competition. Odom finished in the top five in TX to earn the opportunity to advance to the National competition

 

On June 28, 2023, Adam Isaacks, 39, was in federal court in Beaumont before District Judge Marcia A. Crone, where he pleaded guilty to 4 of 7 counts of “transportation of minors in interstate commerce for purposes of sexual conduct.”

A total of 15 new law enforcement candidates received their certificates and other recognition during the Angelina College Law Enforcement Academy graduation ceremony held recently at Temple Theater on the AC campus. Class 113, helping to celebrate the academy’s 30 year in existence, heard advice and words of encouragement from Angelina County Sheriff Tom Selman, an Angelina College alumnus, pictured below.
