Hemphill City to Increase Planning & Zoning Commission

The Hemphill city Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday, October 17th and after opening prayers and pledge to the American and Texas flags, approved the consent agenda. The consent agenda consisted of approving minutes from previous meeting, approving the accounts payable check register for September 2023, approving the gas power cost adjustment of $0.052 per ccf for October 2023, and approving the electric power cost adjustment of $0.02904 per kwh for October 2023.

Captain Scooby talks rod-making at October Chamber Meeting

The Sabine County Chamber of Commerce held it’s monthly meeting on Tuesday, October 10th at The Hitchin Post, and after the prayer, pledge to the flag and approving the last meetings minutes, welcomed the new members of the Chamber. They were Hemphill Lions Club, CrewDaddys Firehouse Cuisine, Lakehouse Restaurant, and Andersons A/C.

Pineland service Club reviews Pineland Day

The Pineland Service Club met in regular session October 12 with a light agenda. The first item was a citizen’s presentation from Brian Smith of Sleep In Heavenly Peace, an organization out of Kimberly, ID that constructs beds for children ages 3-17. Smith said, “We construct beds from scratch, then deliver and assemble them at the child’s residence complete with bedding, and we are currently looking for someone to coordinate deliveries in the Sabine County area.” Scott Simmons, Mark Wright, and Richard & Donna Nichols agreed to coordinate the beds and bed materials. Smith would add, “All you have to do is go to SHPBEDS.org and sign up for a bed. Parental consent is of course needed.”
