SRA Developing Sabinetown Park 'World Class' Fishing Tournament Venue on Toledo Bend

Conceptual Design Produced by Freese and Nichols, Inc. The Sabine River Authority of Texas (SRA) recently completed acquisition of property at the mouth of Palo Gaucho Bayou in the mid-lake area of Toledo Bend Reservoir for development of a 'World Class' fishing tournament venue and park.

Fire destroys Friendship...

Friendship Missionary Baptist Church building, in the Six Mile Community, was destroyed by fire Satruday, Dec. 9. The structure was engulfed and reported as a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Texas State Fire Marshal. Six Mile Fire Department and Pineland Fire Department were able to get the fire out around 12:30 a.m. We are reaching out to find out where donations can be sent; check out our Facebook page for more info.

The Texas Forestry Museum invites you and your family to come enjoy the holiday break by playing a life-size sawmill town board game. The game uses dice and trivia to take people through a week of life in a sawmill town. The first person to finish the week wins! The board game is a free activity and will be available Dec.16 through Jan. 6 during museum hours. The Texas Forestry Museum, a private non-profit organization 1905 Atkinson Dr. in Lufkin. We are open from 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Mon. through Sat., except major holidays. The 2023 Empty Stocking Program sponsored by the Sabine County Children Service Board has wrapped up the interview and appication process for this season’s recipients. This outstanding community effort provides gifts of toys and candy for children in Sabine who might otherwise have an ‘empty stocking’ on Christmas morning. For some children these are the only gifts they will receive.
