SRA-TX SEEKING VOLUNTEERS TO CONSTRUCT ARTIFICIAL HABITAT

Sabine River Authority of Texas (SRA-TX) invites the public to attend a volunteer workday to help assemble 150 PVC fish attractors that will be deployed into Toledo Bend Reservoir. Assembly includes using PVC glue to join pre-assembled pipes, drilling 5/8” holes into the PVC pipe, and zip tying 100’ of 4” perforated pipe around and throughout the structure.

Keith Nabours (pictured above in blue coat and white cap) makes sure everyone has what they need during the Keith's Toledo Bend Tackle 8th Anniversary Celebration and customer appreciation day on Saturday. A large crowd showed up to enjoy the chicken and sausage gumbo and visit with their fishing friends. There were pro fishermen (some retired and some buying tackle for upcoming tournaments), guides, local tournament anglers, and others that just love to fish, all gathered together in what felt like a fishing family reunion, to help celebrate Keith's Toledo Bend Tackle anniversary.

The Hemphill City Council held its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, January 16th, and after the opening prayer and pledge to the flags, approved the consent agenda. The consent agenda included the minutes of the December meeting, the accounts payable check register for December 2023, gas power cost adjustment of $0.050 per ccf for January 2024, and electric power cost adjustment of $0.02420 per kwh for January 2024.

Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG) Board of Directors will hold their regular monthly meeting Thursday, January 25, 2024, at San Augustine Rodeo Arena at 1109 Oaklawn Street in San Augustine, Texas. A Luncheon will be served at noon, with the Board meeting held immediately following.Welcoming members and guests to San Augustine County will be San Augustine County Judge Jeff Boyd, Mayor Leroy Hughes, and San Augustine County Commissioners Tommy Pickard, Daniel Holman, Joey Holloway, and Steve Bryan. DETCOG’s President, San Augustine County Judge Jeff Boyd would like to extend an invitation to the meeting to all interested parties.

First ever Master Gardener Seminar held by Sabine MGA

The Sabine Master Gardener Association held its first ever Seminar this past Saturday, Jan 13, 2024 on “Seed Starting” which included a hands on exercise. Master Gardener Donna Tyree delivered an amazing lecture to over 30 participants who learned about starting seeds at home and also got to take home 4 seedlings. The response from the crowd was very positive and all had an enjoyable time!
