Years ago… I received an email from my friend John Gooch saying he’d just returned from a team roping event in Athens, Texas. “While I stood with hundreds of others for the invocation, I realized that this was one sport that has always begun with a prayer,” he said. “Standing with all those men and women with their heads bowed and hats in their hands, took me back to less politically correct times when prayers in public were the norm and not the exception.”

Nighttime has its magical appeal when the deep blue sky is lit by millions of stars… million of miles apart. I love how some glisten, some twinkle, and some sparkle like the notes of a harp caressing the wavy wind. Their lights embellish the bluish ness of azures.

Years ago after working in the garden and piddling in my gun shop, I came in to check my email. As I was reading it, I noticed a fly had flown into my half-filled glass of water. He was one of the bad ones (the green ones)…the kind that hang around carcasses and filth.

“Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.” Deuteronomy 10:19 “These things I command you, that ye love one another.” John 15:17 “I joked about every prominent man of my time, but I never met a man I didn't like” was a famous quote by Will Rogers. And as much as I admire Will Rogers, I never understood why this quote is so widely admired. I‘ve never read a scripture that reads, “Thou shalt like thy neighbor.”
