Things you may not know about population

Body
Where do we put all these people? So much was made of the 2020 Census and the fact that it took place during the Covid pandemic, doubts have been raised about the accuracy of the population count, some due to the pandemic, others because of a growing distrust of anything government related. The census went on, the numbers were turned in and tabulated, the results published and argued. According to the Census Bureau, as of 2021 there are 331,893,000 people in the U.S., an increase of 7% over the 2010 census. Texas population increased by over 4 million, while Sabine County census numbers show a decline from the 2010 count of 10,834 to the 2020 count of 9,894, with 30.7% of these over the age of 65.

And now you know…September

Body
With so many events that make us question the future of humanity, when something really decent happens, it stands out like a burning candle in a dark room. Why this failed to get national attention at the time is hard to say, but better late than never. In February of this year, retired Air Force veteran Ralph Lambert died in Alexandria, Louisiana. He was born October 24, 1928 in El Dorado, Kansas. From 1950-1971 he served his country, then outlived his family and friends, with no next of kin known at his death, age 93. Menard High School (Alexandria) baseball coach Jordan Marks heard that Mr. Lambert would be cremated with no funeral service, he asked the six Senior baseball players on his team to step up. Seniors Ashton Veade, Cameron Kinder, Jacob Giordano, Jackson Ford, Ashton Brodnax, ahd Hunter Foster, wore their baseball jerseys as they served as pallbearers when Mr. Lambert was buried with full military honors at the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery. It’s good to see that some things can be taught in school that are not on the curriculum.
