The Refuge: A Place for New Hope

Body
As we continue our study on establishing a prosperous soul, let’s pause to do a quick recap. This study came about after reading III John 1:2, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” It’s significant coming from someone with so much experience, being 90 at the time of its writing, having walked with Jesus as a disciple and then experiencing the Holy Spirit’s inspiration. The measure of your physical health and material prosperity is in direct proportion to your soul prospering. We have looked at three areas so far that must be functional in your life in order for your soul to prosper, 1. Rest (peace and sabbath that come from casting our cares and worries on Christ and trusting Him to provide and care for us) 2. Removing Judgements (not allowing a root of bitterness to spring up, practicing forgiveness, seeing others through the eyes of Jesus) and 3. Magnifying the Lord (focusing on His benefits instead of magnifying our fears or problems.) This week we are beginning principal 4. Let every Soul be Subject.

On September 18 the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 10351 hosted a get together to recognize the Blue Star Mothers of Sabine County active service members, along with Silver Star and Gold Start Mothers from Sabine County. Representatives of only six of the Sabine County service members were able to attend, with those service members having time in service ranging from 23 years to one currently in Boot Camp. Two of them are Hemphill High School graduates (Shelly Williams Zakimi, 1990, and Jared Mills, 2020).
