Christmas in the Pines was a beautiful day full of events ranging from a 5K, Santa, Shopping, contests, and more. There were several vendors set up at the park for folks to shop. There were lots of opportunities to find that perfect Christmas gift! One of the vendors, Nila D. Bond (shown above) not only had various items for sale, but is also a local author.

Suspect in Bryan Blue Murder arrested

On December 05, 2022, at approximately 2:17 PM, the San Augustine Sheriff’s Office responded to 520 FM 711 in San Augustine, Texas to call of a bloodied, unresponsive male in the front yard. Upon arrival, Deputies found 33-year-old Bryan Blue deceased from injuries sustained by being shot with a cross bow in the back. Bryan Blue’s truck was missing from the scene as well. During the investigation, 34year-old Lorenza White was quickly established as a person of interest. Blue had allowed White to live at his residence after recently being released from prison.

Wreath’s Across America have arrived at Hemphill ISD

On December 7, 2022, the trucking firm of Paper Transport, Inc, of Mississippi donated their time, drivers, and trucks to deliver 19 cases of wreaths for the Wreaths Across America event. We will meet at the masonic lodge, Littleton Fowler Lodge, at 8:30 A.M. on December 17, 2022, to honor our brave veterans who have sacrificed. The ceremony will begin at 9:00 A.M. The Hemphill High School Patriots Club in conjunction with the Oscar P Pate American Legion Post 197, the Hemphill Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10351, and the Hemphill Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10351 Auxilary have raised money to purchase 169 wreaths. We would like to acknowledge all the help that came from the Hemphill High School Little Green Band in raising the needed funds.

Breakfast with Santa...

Paisley Hill and Barrett McCland give Santa (Thomas Mathews) their Christmas present wish list at the Breakfast With Santa celebration at the PFD on Saturday. The scrumptious breakfast of pancakes and sausage drew a large crowd! The kiddos received some nice presents and even got to make their own ornament to take home and hang on their own Christmas tree.

Christmas Lunch...

As has been the custom in the past few years, plans are being finalized for the Pineland community Christmas lunch to be served at the Pineland Fire Station on Christ- mas Day. According to Catherine Reeves who is involved with the event, the lunch is open to anyone who might need a hot meal on Christmas Day.
