In honor of Trauma Awareness Month, Sabine County Hospital would like to announce our 2023 Trauma Nurse Excellence Award winner, DeAnna Walston, RN! This award represents the excellence that the nurse exemplifies in the knowledge, care, documentation, and skills in the care of trauma patients. DeAnna has been a nurse for 19 years, 8 of those years as an LPN/LVN and 11 as an RN. She has been with us for 7 years and holds an Associate Degree in Nursing. She has worked as many shifts as she possibly could over the years and is always eager to help. Not only does she put in many hours here at SCH, she also has other jobs she is dedicated to. DeAnna holds certifications for Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). She is very well deserving of this award, which was voted on by her peers. In recognition of this award, DeAnna will receive Leatherman Trauma Shears and an engraved plaque. We are happy to have DeAnna as part of our trauma team here at Sabine County Hospital. Please join us in congratulating DeAnna on this achievement!

Members of the Lakes Area Cruisers cruised into Pineland recently and presented a much appreciated donation to the Sabine County Food Pantry. Shown with the ceremonial check on left is Executive Director Angela “Neici” Stewart and Assistant Director Julia White.

Eddie Marshall, owner of Elite Welding and Fabrication donated his time and materials to install a receiver hitch on brush truck #401. This will enable us to transport our search and rescue vehicle when it becomes necessary. We wish to thank him for an excellent job.

The Hemphill Seniors started the school year with a Senior Sunrise service where they were prayed over to have a good year and to make as many memories as possible because the year would soon come to a end and they would all be going their seperate ways. Well, as all good things must come to a end so did these Seniors last day at Hemphill ISD. This group of Seniors met for one of the last times and were prayed over to have a prosperous life and not to forget their way home when times got tough bceause this would always be home. Good luck to all of you on your futures weather it be going to school, going to work, or just taking some time for yourself to get ready for the future.
