There’s no place like home; it’s where our pets find comfort, security, and safety. Some common household items, however, can inadvertently bring danger in a pet’s loving household.

So I’m doing a show after all. The problem with me (and I might not be alone in this) is that I have a hard time imagining anything between close to perfect and nothing at all.

It was an ordinary school day in 1948. My classmates and I were in our second grade class room at Hemphill Elementary School in Hemphill, Texas. Since I was in the second grade, I probably had on a dress that was made from chicken feed bags sewed together by my maternal grandmother, Mam Howell. Had I a clue that this would be a special event day, I probably would have worn a “church” dress. Our teacher was Verna Thedford on this particular day.

It surprises me how many Christians will grasp at any excuse they can to explain their troubled lives. It seems that it can never be their fault that things aren’t going well. It must be God’s desire/plan/fault.

October was National Fire Prevention Month, a time when the nation honors the invaluable work of firefighters. In support of this, Georgia-Pacific is assisting local firefighters in safeguarding the residents and properties of Pineland and Sabine County. Recently, Pineland Lumber contributed $10,000 to the Pineland Volunteer Fire Department, which will be used to update and replace life-saving equipment.
