Helen Elaine Griffin, 69, of Rosevine, passed away December 31, 2023 at her residence. Helen was born January 14, 1954 in Pineland, to Henry Edgar Sunderland and Pearl Bass Sunderland. She was a lifelong resident of Sabine County and had worked in nursing as a CNA for Twin Lakes Nursing Home for 20 years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and playing with her dogs, Layla and Molly. She also enjoyed going to casinos. Helen is survived by her husband of 53 years, Paul Griffin of Rosevine; son, Micheal Paul Griffin and Mikki of Pineland; daughters, Pamela Jo Pike and husband, Jason, of Hardin and Paula S. Lyons and husband, Mike, of San Augustine; grandchildren, Tyler Pike, Brady Pike, Jhase Griffin, Jordan Griffin and Seth Stephens, and Jaden Griffin; great grandson, Wynston; and great granddaughter on the way, Parker.

Doris Jean Coward, 68, of Bronson, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023 in Houston. Doris was born November 23, 1955 in Newton, Texas to Frank Molander and Imogene Moore Molander. She had been a resident of Sabine County since 2002, having previously resided in Merryville, Louisiana. She was a wonderful and caring wife and mother who enjoyed cooking. She also enjoyed visiting with her friends and family and fishing.

Clyde Wesley Brewer of Hemphill, devoted husband, father, PaPa, and Great PaPa passed away on December 12, 2023. He was born in Mineral Wells, to Clyde Alfred Brewer and Maezelle Rike Brewer on August 31, 1930. Clyde graduated in 1947 from Grand Prairie High School and received a master’s degree in business from the University of Dallas in 1977. He also became a Registered Professional Engineer. Clyde had an amazing 45 year career that began by serving one year in the Naval Reserve and four years in the United States Navy. He spent twenty-seven years working in aerospace quality control at Temco (now Lockheed Martin). He also worked for Otis Engineering as Director of Quality Control and later for a consulting company before he went into business for himself. Clyde started a very successful company called Quality Systems Registrars that has grown into a business with over 500 clients today. His career took him all over the world, including North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia for a total of 32 countries.

Rex Ebarb, Jr., 75, of Hemphill, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 in Lufkin. Rex was born on May 23, 1948 in Hemphill, to Rex Ebarb, Sr. and Viola Woodard Ebarb. Rex was a hardworking man who built his own roofing business in Sabine County. He enjoyed reading his bible, books of history and westerns, and doing his puzzles. Rex was described as an example of how to live life. He did not judge and tried his best to help everyone he met. He never met a stranger. If you needed a place to live, Rex had a home for you. Offering help where he could but never asked for help for himself. He lived life by his own rules regardless of what others said. If he loved you, he loved you with his entire heart and would protect you with his life. Even to those who didn’t feel deserving. Rex was always there with a cup of coffee for anyone who stopped by, with funny stories and memories of his adventures. He lived simply. If he didn’t have what he needed, he would make it. His grateful heart was thankful for any small thing given to him.

Mary Dell Garrison, 83, of Orange, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023 at her residence. Mary was born March 19, 1940 in Seminole, to K.V and Anna Verfurth Odom. The daughter of an oilfield worker, she grew up all over Texas worshipping the ground her daddy walked on. Quick-witted and full of mischief, she was always up for adventure and always greeted you with a smile. She married into the Navy and began her career as a seaman's wife, which was any and all things to a family of five children. Forever the homemaker, you could always find her in the kitchen a tremendous cook. She loved to cook and cooked with love.

Willirie 'Bill' Marion Beeson, 89, of Hemphill, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at his residence. Bill was born on December 17, 1933 in Brookhaven, Mississippi to Leland Beeson and Lela Bessonette Beeson.

Margie Nell Morrison, 92, of Hemphill, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at her residence. She was born August 8, 1931 in Hemphill, to John Henry Latham and Carmon Butler Latham. She was a longtime resident of Sabine County and was a graduate of Hemphill High School. She attended Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches where she earned her Bachelor's Degree and later earned her Master's Degree from Lamar University. She was a teacher for Hemphill ISD for 13 years and was a member of East Mayfield Baptist Church. She had always enjoyed sewing and flowers.
