William Darrell Baggett, 80, of Broaddus died suddenly Tuesday, May 2, 2023, in San Augustine. He was born Sept. 1, 1942, in Malvern, Arkansas, to parents William Silas and Valah Clara Baggett. He grew up in Columbia, Louisiana, and had lived in the Broaddus area for the 22 years. he was a U.S. Army Korean veteran. For most of his life, he worked as a grocer. He began working at Brookshire Brothers in San Augustine upon moving to the area and continued working there until his death. He was a faithful, dedicated member of First Baptist Church in Broaddus where he served as a deacon.

Survivors: brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Carol Baggett of Kingwood. He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, at First Baptist Church, Broaddus, under the direction of Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, San Augustine.
