Walter James “Sonny” Kelley, 73, of Jasper, passed away Sept. 19, 2022, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

A native of Pineland, and lifelong resident of Jasper, he attended West Sabine High School and he worked for Temple Inland for 30 years and Jasper County Precinct 2 as a mechanic for 13 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working and doing anything that allowed him to be outside on his tractor. He loved being with his family.

He is survived by his mother, Hazel Ruth Kelley of Pineland; his wife of 51 years, Linda Wilson Kelley of Jasper; son, Troy Eugene Kelley and wife, Kara of Oregon; daughter, Stacie Kelley Luttrell and husband, Mike of Willis; sisters, Nellie Mills of Willis and Linda Stout of Hemphill; aunt, Sally Hopson of Zavalla; grandchildren, Allen and Madisyn Luttrell, Austin Luttrell, Ashton Luttrell and Keagan Kelley; and his many nieces, nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Jackson Kelley.

Graveside services were held Sept. 24, at the Old Magnolia Cemetery in Holly Springs.
