Waldean 'Stormy' Turner, 90, of San Augustine, Texas passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023, in Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Dallas, on Apr. 13, 1933 to Jesse Ollie Sanders and Effie Ruth Kirk Sanders. She attended school at Hemphill ISD and was a member of the graduating class of 1950. She lived in Denton, before returning to Hemphill 40 years ago with her husband, Bill. She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone as a Benefits Manager.

After Bill’s death in 2013, she continued to live in Midlake Village until January 2019 when she and her dog, Josie, and cat, KC, started living in San Augustine with a sister and brother-in-law. She became a full-time resident of Colonial Pines Healthcare Center in May, 2021.

She was a very talented artist and family members have enjoyed displaying her beautiful oil paintings over the years. She also loved flower gardening and taking care of her plants. She was a devoted bird watcher who had numerous bird feeders, but she hated squirrels! She was a member of the women's exercise club in Six Mile and both she and her husband were active members of the VFW and auxiliary.

She was also a member and faithful supporter of Liberty Hill Baptist Church in San Augustine.

She is survived by her sister, Vicki Sanders Bell and husband, Jackie, of San Augustine; stepsons, William Lee Turner and wife, Kathy, of Whitewright, and Stephen Russell Turner and wife, Carrol of Richardson; grandson, Cory Lee Turner of Plano; one great grandson Easton Turner; and sister-in-law, Sharon Sanders of Westminster, CO.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Turner; brother, Bill Sanders; and sister, Mary Sanders Sterling.

Funeral services were held Sat., May 13, in Starr Funeral Home Chapel, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, with Bro. Frank Holrath officiating.

Burial will follow services in King Cemetery with Bobby Neal, Josh Neal, Michael Mills, Jimmy Sanders, James (Eric) Woods, Jake Conn, Trey Neal, Travis Neal and Trent Neal serving as pallbearers.
