Verl Marie McGough
Verl Marie McGough (née Ellison), aged 95, passed away on October 21, 2024, in Hemphill. Born on January 20, 1929, in Bronson, to Lonnie Ellison and Martha Dickerson Ellison, Verl was a cherished lifetime resident of Sabine County.
Verl's life was marked by her love for work and her passion for reading, which was evident in her extensive book collection. She was also a devoted member of Centerview Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading her bible and other scriptural publications. Her generosity extended to numerous charities throughout her life, demonstrating her compassionate spirit.
Throughout her career, Verl was involved in retail sales before she retired and transitioned to working in Home Health, where she continued to impact the lives of others positively.
Ve rl was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Martha Ellison; her son, Clyde Boyett; five brothers; grandchildren, Karen Newell and Kyle Wilson; and great-greatgranddaughter, Lilly Godeaux.
She leaves behind a loving family including her daughter, Doris Arney and husband, Steve, of Hemphill; granddaughter, Kellye Lorenz of Springfield, MO; great-grandchildren, Sara Wilson, Drew Merchant, Robert Wilson, Garrick Newell, Zak Killian, and Hannah Killian; great-great-grandchildren, Layla Childress, Ava Wilson, Hadley Jones, Luna McClintock, Liam McClintock, Dallee Newell, Sophia Killian, and Creed Kemp; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
A private burial will take place at Bronson Cemetery, with a family memorial service scheduled for a later date. Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill, Texas, is assisting the family with arrangements.
