Susan Elizabeth Turley (née Freeland), aged 66, of Hemphill, passed away on August 1, 2024. Susan was born on August 9, 1957, in Lafayette, Indiana to Kenneth Freeland and the late Aloha Yarian Freeland. A longtime resident of Sabine County, after previously living in Tyler County, Susan dedicated her life to her family, embodying the roles of a housewife, mother, and homemaker. She was a woman of simple pleasures, one of which was hunting for arrowheads, a hobby that allowed her to connect with nature and history.

Susan is survived by her father, Kenneth Freeland; sons, Terry Turley of Newton and Jesse Turley of Hemphill; daughter, Gloria Turley Nelson of Milam; brothers, Daniel Freeland of Bacliff, and Richard Freeland of Wyoming; sister, Connie Plyman of Bacliff; and numerous grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Aloha Freeland, and her beloved husband, Jerry Turley.

Cremation arrangements are being handled by Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill, Texas. Susan's life will be remembered and celebrated privately by family and friends, in accordance with her wishes.
