Stephen Paul “Slick” Farris 56, of Pineland, passed from this life at his home on June 12, 2022, surrounded by his children and Deva Arrant.

He was born on Nov. 9, 1965, to Sam and Hazel Farris in Liberty. Shortly after, he and his family moved to Newton, where his Eagle Pride began. Throughout high school, he participated in rodeo and met many lifelong friends including his high school sweetheart Melissa. They married and later moved to Pineland to raise their two kids. There he worked for Deep East Electric Co-op as a lineman for over 35 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding horses, but most importantly her enjoyed having a good time.

He is survived by his daughter, Misty and Joe Stewart of Lufkin; his son, Kyle Farris of Longview; his grandchildren, Kyleigh Farris, Chase Stewart, Anna Stewart and Emma Stewart; sisters; Brenda Whitmire and Judy Mesecher; brother, David Farris; and his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on today, Wednesday, June 15, at 10 a.m. at Bethel Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 854 Highway 96 North, Pineland and interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Bedias.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to Olive Branch Hospice in Jasper.
