Ruth Annette Lakey, 78, of Hemphill, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, in Hemphill. Born on October 29, 1947, in Port Arthur, to George Gilbert Robison and Annie Lou Hinson Robison, Ruth lived a life filled with dedication to her faith, family, and work. For many years, Ruth served as the business office manager for Hemphill Care Center. Her commitment to her work reflected her strong sense of responsibility and care for others. Outside of her professional life, Ruth found joy in cooking and spending time with her family. These moments brought her great happiness and were a testament to the love she shared with those closest to her.

A devoted member of the Bronson Revival Center church, Ruth’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. Her connection to her church community provided her with strength and comfort throughout the years.

She is survived by her sister Lisa Payne and husband Michael of Brookeland, ; nieces Kristie Newby, Katie Conn, Kandy Lynn Bodin and husband Mark, and Marsha Wall; nephews Wesley Robison Jr. and wife, Dana and Rodney Dotson and wife Ren; Austin Ickles; as well as several other cherished nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, George Gilbert and Annie Lou Robison; her brother, Wesley Robison Sr and her sister, Belinda Hough.

Ruth’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026 at Starr Funeral Home Chapel in Hemphill, Texas with Bro. Danny Bentson officiating.

Visitation with begin one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Weeks Chapel Cemetery in Newton County with her family and friends serving as pallbearers.
