Prentice Cravey
Prentice Cravey, 85, of Brookeland, passed away on March 17, 2026, in Lufkin. Born on December 22, 1940, in Fred, to Bob Cravey and Pearlie Mae McKee Cravey, he was a cherished member of his community. Prentice spent his career at Temple- Inland, where he worked diligently as an oiler until his retirement. He was also skilled in building swimming pools and fences, a testament to his craftsmanship and work ethic. Beyond his professional life, Prentice was a passionate outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and gardening, activities that brought him great peace and joy.
A lifelong resident of Silsbee, and later Brookeland, Prentice was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge, demonstrating his commitment to community and service. His dedication to these pursuits reflected his character and values, endearing him to all who knew him.
Prentice is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jorena Cravey; daughters, Stacy Erwin and her husband, Guy, and Tonya Langston and her husband, Gregory, all of Silsbee; his brother, Bruce Cravey and his wife, Glenda, of Silsbee; and his sisters, Vivian Morrison and her husband, David, and Helen McCurley and her husband, Eugene, all of Silsbee. He was a proud grandfather to Allison Graham and her husband, Shawn, Katelynn Richardson and her husband, Alex, Colt Langston and his wife, Taylor, and Jolee Langston, and a great-grandfather to Savannah, Leigha, Laikynn, Laine, and Collins.
Prentice was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Albert Crow, and his grandson, Christopher Erwin.
Arrangements were handled by Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill.
