Phillip LeRoy Verdine, known affectionately as 'Krazy Phil,' passed away on March 3, 2026, at the age of 68 in Hemphill. Born on December 22, 1957, in Beckley, West Virginia, to Rosmah LeRoy Verdine and Phyllis Jean Fout Verdine, Phillip lived a life marked by adventure and a deep commitment to his family and community.

Phillip spent his professional life as a skilled welder traveling all over the United States and an enthusiastic whitewater rafting guide, sharing his love for adrenaline-pumping activities with others. In better health, he was a jack of all trades, an avid fisherman and hunter and loved watching his great grandkids playing in the yard. He was a servant of God and loved his church family just as much as his blood family. He was a storyteller of sorts, always captivating his audience and knowing when to add a level of pizazz that made it nearly unbelievable.

He was a cherished member of the Bethany Missionary Baptist Church He is survived by his mother, Phyllis Fout of Beckley, West Virginia; his wife, Trudy Verdine of A Place in the Pines near Pineland; his son, Phillip Verdine, also of A Place in the Pines; his daughters, Jessica Verdine of Pineland, Rebecca Driggs of Elk City, Oklahoma, and Michelle Driggs of Lake Charles, Louisiana; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Phillip was preceded in death by his father, Rosmah LeRoy Verdine.

Later, Phil's ashes will be taken to his final resting place on Buzzard Ridge in Pocahontas County, West Virginia where he spent many winters hunting and fishing with his father and his Uncle Dove.
