Paul Edwin 'Eddie' Toole passed away on April 29, 2026, in Lufkin, at the age of 90. Born in Sabine County, on October 6, 1935, to Paul Edwin Toole, Sr. and Inez Cook Toole, Eddie was a lifelong resident of Hemphill and an esteemed member of the local community. He was a proud graduate of Hemphill High School and furthered his education by earning a master's degree. Eddie dedicated many years to teaching biology at Hemphill ISD before his retirement.

Eddie was known for his love of the outdoors, often found fishing or hunting. His joy for life extended to the dance floor, where he was always ready to share a dance. He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Hemphill, where he found spiritual solace and community.

Eddie was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy 'Dot' Toole; his parents, Paul and Inez Toole; his daughter, Rachel Toole Reid; his son-in-law, Buddy Carrell; and his grandson, Hunter Carrell.

He leaves behind a loving family: sons, Troy Toole and Barry Toole, both of Hemphill; daughter, Cynthia Collins and her husband, Dennis, of Lufkin; sister, Sandra Perkins and her husband, Dwayne, of Leesville, Louisiana; grandchildren Cynthia Marie Toole, Elizabeth Toole, Daniel Toole, and Jason Carrell; son-in-law, T. Reid; and great-grandchildren Hunter, Jaxon, Lacee, Gauge, Daisy, Antonio, Aiden, Arial, Athena, Anderes, and Anthony.

Private services will be held to honor Eddie's life. Arrangements are being handled by Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill.

Eddie's legacy of kindness, passion for education, and love for his family and community will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
