Oline Pond Simmons, 81, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023 at her residence.

She was born March 24, 1942 in Scrappin' Valley, Texas to O. D. Jacks and Merline Chance Jacks. She was raised in Sabine County and later moved to Vidor, Texas where she worked as an LVN in hospitals in Beaumont, including MASH and Baptist Hospital for 35 years before her retirement. Even after retiring, she continued to work in Home Health.

She was very active in her church, first in Vidor at Maple Crest Baptist Church and later on in Hemphill at First Baptist Church where she taught Awanas, AGLOW and Bible School. She was also a retired member of the Elks Lodge in China, Texas. She was a great seamstress and enjoyed crocheting. She enjoyed tending her flower garden and was a pretty good bowler. One of her rules that she stressed with her children was to always be on time.

Oline is survived by her son, David Smith of Bronson; daughters, Brenda O'Quinn of Town Bluff, TX and Eunice Mae Spain of Arizona; brother, Donald Ray Moran and wife, Mattie, of Vidor; four grandchildren, Renee Moye, Tanya Johnson and husband, Daniel, Roy Pond, and Krystal Wartberg and husband, Mick; ten great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and father of her children, S. R. Smith; and husbands, Harold Pond and Bud Simmons; son, Mikeal Smith; brother, Willie Moran; and sister, Myrl Ruth Dollar.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2023 at First Baptist Church, 301 Mann Street, Hemphill, under the direction of Starr Funeral Home with Bro. Troy Richardson officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until service time.

Burial will follow services in Yellowpine Cemetery.
