Nolan Ferguson, 91, of Hemphill, passed away Monday, November 28, 2022 at his residence. Nolan was born September 20, 1931 in Sabinetown, as the oldest of four children to William Augustus Ferguson and Ollie Burleson Ferguson. He was a lifetime resident of Sabine County, a place he dearly loved, and a graduate of Hemphill High School. He served his country as a United States Army Sergeant in the Korean War and later worked as a engineering technician for the U. S Forest Service for many years before retiring.

He was a well-loved member of his community and a loving husband to his wife, Frances, for 63 years before her death in 2019. He was a great father and grandfather who loved his family and his Blue Bell Ice Cream. He made his profession of faith and was baptized in his early 60's. He became a member of First Baptist Church in Hemphill as well as a member of Littleton-Fowler Masonic Lodge 305 and a lifetime member of the V.F.W.

He is survived by his son Tommy Ferguson and wife, Jennifer, of Silsbee; daughter, Wendi Moody and husband, Christopher, of Sour Lake; and five grandchildren, Whitney, Walter, Trinity, Audrey and William.

Funeral services were held Dec. 2, at Starr Funeral Home Chapel, Hemphill, with Dr. Christopher Moody and Dillon Ray Ferguson officiating.

Burial will follow services in Harpers Chapel Cemetery with Walter Ferguson, William Ferguson, Jared Ferguson, Steven Ferguson, Bruce Ferguson and David Logan serving as pallbearers. Military Honors will be provided by the Sabine County Honor Guard.
