Marcel Harper, 91, of Hemphill, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2025 at Legacies Nursing and Rehab in Hemphill.

Marcel was born in Jasper, on March 27, 1933 to Andrew Harris and Julia Stowell Harris. She was a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother. She had been a Sabine County resident for more than 25 years, previously living in Beaumont.

She attended First Baptist Church in Hemphill and was on the Board of Directors of the Sabine County Senior Citizens Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Julia Harris; her husband, Atrell Harper; and sister, Juanita Gardner.

Marcel is survived by her daughter, Lonnett Bonnette and husband, Clifford, of Beaumont; son, Butch Harper and wife, Joan, of Hemphill, Lynn Harper and wife, Mary Jo, of Beaumont and Lanis Harper and wife, Vickie, also of Beaumont; sister, Geneva of Florida; nine grandchildren, numerous great and great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at Starr Funeral Home Chapel, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas with Bro. Bryce Harper officiating.

Visitation will begin one hour prior to service. Burial will follow services in Harper Chapel Cemetery with Christopher Bonnette, Bennett Harper, Landin Knott, Justin Knott, Jeremy Long, Clete Stewart, Shane Jones and Hunter Patterson serving as pallbearers.
