Lewis Jones Cannon, 97, of Pineland, passed away on October 6, 2025. Born on September 11, 1928, in Tallassee, Alabama, he was the son of Henry Owen Cannon and Erma Jean Jones Cannon. Lewis spent his early years in Tallassee before relocating to Dallas, in 1957 with his beloved wife, Dollie Janise Cannon, who preceded him in death after 73 years of marriage. Lewis served as a medic in the United States Army during the Korean War, dedicating himself to the care and recovery of his fellow soldiers. After his military service, he established a successful career as a commercial and residential paint contractor, a profession he pursued with passion and excellence for many years. After retiring, they relocated to the Six Mile Community of Sabine County where they spent many happy years.

A committed member of his community, Lewis was a respected Deacon at Six Mile Baptist Church for 30 years. His faith and dedication to his church community were profound and deeply valued.

Lewis was known for his love of fishing, a hobby that brought him much joy and relaxation. He also enjoyed assisting his friends with various projects, always eager to lend a helping hand.

He is survived by his son, Stephen Lewis Cannon and wife, Deborah Lynn, of Pineland; daughter, Jan Claire Eustis and husband, Steven Lisay, of Ft. Myers, FL; grandchildren, Jeremy Cannon and wife, Helene, Jason Cannon and wife, Kristen, Jolene Agapay and husband, Marcus, Trent Westerfield and wife, Heather, Troy Westerfield and wife, Christine, Katie Moore and husband, Justin, and Kellie Monroe and husband, Devin; and great-grandchildren, Bailey, Jake, Kylee, MaKayla, Mia, Natalie, Faith, Claire, Ava, and Logan.

Lewis was also preceded in death by his parents, one brother, three sisters, his son-in-law, Wyatt Eustis III, and grandson, Wyatt Eustis IV.

Memorial services for Lewis will be announced at a later date. The Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill, Texas, is assisting the family with arrangements. Lewis's legacy of kindness, service, and devotion will be remembered by all who knew him.
