John Allen Reeves, 64, of San Augustine, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at his residence. Born on July 15, 1960, in Center, he was the son of the late Henry Oscar 'Isom' Reeves, Jr., and Vivian Alice Cochran Reeves. John spent his most of his life in Sabine County and was a graduate of Hemphill High School. Affectionately known as 'Pappy,' John was a man who exuded happiness and cherished time spent with his family, who he loved dearly. An avid outdoorsman, dog lover, and sports fanatic, he held a particular fondness for Alabama's Crimson Tide football team and NASCAR racing.

Professionally, John dedicated many years of service as a postal service contractor, a role that allowed him to connect with and serve his community faithfully.

John is survived by his wife of 18 years, Gloria Reeves; his sons, Ruben Cantu and his wife, Monica, of Liberty Hill, and Gabriel Cantu of San Augustine; his stepdaughter, Deanna Jacob and her husband, Derek, of Liberty Hill; his sister, Teresa Hancock and her husband, Curtis, of Milam; and his niece and nephew, Heather and Frankie Sanders. His joy was further multiplied by his grandchildren, Christa and husband, Chris, Makayla and husband, Andrew, Jaylin, Ruben III, Lauren, and Nikalias; and great-grandchildren, Malia, Adela, Cruz, and Christian. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Chloe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Isom and Vivian Reeves, and his niece, Melissa Sanders.

John's life was one of vibrant engagement with the people and passions he loved, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Cremation arrangements were handled by Starr Funeral Home.
