Janis Ann Waldrop, 69, of Hemphill, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025. She was born on January 4, 1956, and brought love, laughter, and warmth to everyone fortunate enough to know her. Janis was a proud and loving mother to her three children: her oldest son, John, who was born when she was just 17 and taught her resilience and strength; her middle child, Joseph Waldrop, whose thoughtful and caring nature brought her great pride and joy; and her youngest, Jodi, her daughter and source of endless laughter and joy, with whom she shared a close and special bond.

She was also a beloved sister to her older sister, whose love and support were an important part of her life.

Janis was married to the love of her life for nearly 44 years, sharing a lifetime of road trips, adventures, and quiet moments together. Their enduring partnership was a testament to the strength of their love and commitment.

She had a deep passion for life’s simple pleasures. She loved cruising, sitting peacefully in her yard, and enjoying the comfort of a good Netflix series. She also adored her grandchildren, her pets, and her cousins, who all held a special place in her heart.

Her legacy is one of kindness, love, and an appreciation for the little moments that make life beautiful. Janis will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.

Survivors include her husband, John Wesley Waldrop; children, John Gray and his wife, Mary, of Orange; Joseph Waldrop and his wife, Jessica, of Vidor; and Jodi Gray and her husband, David, of Hemphill; grandchildren, Marissa Gray and Evan Gray; and sister, Linda Padon.

Janis is preceded in death by her parents, Vera Stockman Gray and Richard Gray, and brothers, Dickie Gray and Bobby Gray.
