James “Harold” Crocker of Kingwood, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026, at the age of 92. Harold was born on June 22, 1934, in Pineland, to Johnny and Lillie Crocker. He grew up in Sabine County and maintained a deep connection to the area throughout his life.

Harold and his wife, Nina, spent many years in Houston, where he built a successful business, Harold Crocker Painting and Decorating. Through his hard work, craftsmanship, and dedication, Harold earned the respect and trust of many customers throughout the Houston area. In 1990, Harold and Nina returned to Sabine County, where they had always held a special place in their hearts. Harold spent the majority of his retirement years living on Toledo Bend Lake near Hemphill.

Retirement suited Harold well. He spent his days fishing, playing in the woods, and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and creating memories with them that will be treasured for generations. Harold was known for his willingness to help others and was a familiar and respected presence in the Sabine County community. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a way of bringing laughter and warmth to those around him. He also devoted many years to caring for and helping maintain the Martin Family Cemetery, a commitment that reflected his deep love for his family, his community, and the history they shared. Harold was a hardworking man who took pride in everything he did, but his greatest joy was his family. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, independent nature, good humor, love of the outdoors, and willingness to lend a helping hand.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Lillie Crocker; his beloved wife, Nina; and his son, Larry Dale Crocker.

He is survived by his son, Randy Crocker and wife, Debbie; daughter, Sherri Lofton and husband, Charles; granddaughters Sara Stumpf, Serena Fendley, and Crystal Ross; great-grandchildren Kayla, Amanda, Donny, Samantha, and Samuel; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

Harold will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched throughout his 92 years. His legacy will live on through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as through the community he loved and served.

Graveside services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2026 in Martin Cemetery in Pineland, Texas under the direction of Starr Funeral Home.
