Irma Jeane Perkins
Jeane Perkins, 89, of Pitkin, Louisiana passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, in Oakdale, Louisiana. Born on July 22, 1936, in Cravens, Louisiana to Wess White and Esther O'Quinn White, Jeane was a cherished figure in her community and beloved by all who knew her. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother.
A graduate of Pitkin High School, Jeane dedicated many years to working alongside her family on their dairy farm. She and her husband, John, ventured into opening J & J Meat Market, a local business they nurtured until retirement. Beyond her professional life, Jeane was a master quilter, ensuring each family member was warmed by the quilt she crafted with love. Her quilts were not only reserved for family, as she often made quilted throws for friends in need of comfort. Jeane was also known for being a great cook, frequently preparing meals for family gatherings and church events, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of tasting her dishes.
Jeane's life was marked by the love she had for her family. She is survived by her sons, Ken Perkins and wife, Rita, of Oakdale, Brad Perkins and wife, Junita, of Glenmora, and Jay Perkins and wife, Sandy, of Hemphill, Texas; granddaughters, Lorie Perkins of Oakdale and Ashton Childress and husband, Cody, of Hemphill; grandson, Jake Perkins and wife, Grace, of Hemphill; great grandsons, Logan Willis and wife, Anna, of Glenmora, Shawn Coker and wife, Savanna, of Oakdale, Dawson Perkins and Wesley Johnson, both of Oakdale, Alyx Perkins, Embry Perkins, and Haze Childress, all of Hemphill; great-great grandsons, Alex Willis and Leo Willis; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 58 years, John Franklin Perkins; daughter, Lisa Perkins Gaskin; sister, Wesalene Calhoon; and granddaughter, Kimberly Perkins Johnson.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at Occupy #1 Baptist Church in Pitkin, Louisiana.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at the Church with burial to follow in Occupy #1 Cemetery under the direction of Rush Funeral Home of Oakdale, Louisiana.
