Gary Mark Painton, 78, passed away on October 2, 2024, in Shrevepo rt, Louisiana. Born on May 11, 1946, in Port Arthur, to Clifford Painton and Edith McCutchen, Gary lived a life marked by dedication to his community and country. Gary served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, showcasing his patriotism and bravery. After his military service, he became an inspector for the FAA until his retirement. After moving to Hemphill, he worked as a dispatcher for the Sabine County Sheriff's Department.

A Master Mason at Lodge #1368 in Nederland, Gary was deeply involved in his community for over 19 years. His commitment to service was evident in both his professional and personal life.

Gary's hobbies included golfing and fishing, and he cherished spending holidays and special occasions surrounded by friends. His warmth and kindness made him a beloved figure in his community.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Edith Painton; his wife, Gail Delores Painton; and his brother, Russell Painton. Gary is survived by his special friend, Edith McCauley of Hemphill, and numerous friends who will miss him dearly.

A service to honor Gary's life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill, Texas.
